Bellingham, WA—February 17, 2012—The Woods Coffee today announced that two Whatcom County brands recently received national-level attention. Specialty Coffee Retailer, a national business-to-business coffee magazine, featured a photo of The Woods Coffee’s in-house baked pumpkin bread for its January cover shot. Local photographer, Jennifer Morrow, took the photo.

“Jennifer has been helping us out with photography for two years now, and we were very happy to see her work featured on the cover of a magazine that’s read across the country,” said Wes Herman, owner of Woods Coffee. “Of course, it was nice to see our pumpkin loaf get this kind of attention, too.”

Morrow’s photo was used for a Specialty Coffee Retailer feature story on the impact food sales can have on a coffee retailer’s profitability. The Woods Coffee opened its own commercial kitchen in Lynden early in 2011, which now produces all of its baked goods each day for all 12 of its Whatcom County locations.

“Being able to offer our own fresh-baked goods is something we’ve talked about doing since we first opened our doors in 2002,” said Herman. “To be able to serve our own products has been a great thing for The Woods. Customers are really pleased with the quality of our from-scratch baked goods and the new items our kitchen has come up with.”

Specialty Coffee Retailer is a coffee industry magazine for retailers, roasters, executives and store managers. The magazine is mailed to more than 12,500 recipients across the United States each month.
